President Obama Once Called Libya a “Sh*t Show”

The press can’t get enough of attacking President Trump for referring to Third World countries, namely Haiti and African nations, as “sh*tholes.”
President Trump allegedly made this comment during a private meeting with congressional Democrats and Republicans. By my read of the accounts, it sounds like Trump, being the personal and gracious guy he is, tried to make a joke that would ease the tension in the room.
Of course, Democrats weren’t going to let an opportunity to smear Trump go to waste. So they went to their willing lapdogs in the media and repeated Trump’s comments. And, like clockwork, out came the charges of racism. And, of course, there were the tired accusations that Trump is somehow unfit or immature for the office he holds, as if presidents in the past haven’t used coarse language from time to time in a private setting.
In fact, President Obama spoke in similar language about an African country towards the end of his term in office. And here’s the thing: The media didn’t bat an eye at his remarks.
In an interview with Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic, Obama reflected on the mess he left in the world. In recounting in the episode where he used American air power to assist Libyan rebels in toppling dictator Muammar Gaddafi, Obama referred to the country as a “sh*t show” of his own creation.
An excerpt from the interview:
“So we actually executed this plan as well as I could have expected: We got a UN mandate, we built a coalition, it cost us $1 billion — which, when it comes to military operations, is very cheap. We averted large-scale civilian casualties, we prevented what almost surely would have been a prolonged and bloody civil conflict. And despite all that, Libya is a mess.”
Mess is the president’s diplomatic term; privately, he calls Libya a “shit show,” in part because it’s subsequently become an ISIS haven — one that he has already targeted with air strikes. It became a shit show, Obama believes, for reasons that had less to do with American incompetence than with the passivity of America’s allies and with the obdurate power of tribalism.
Hmmm… it’s awfully strange that not one person in the media called Obama’s remark malicious or puerile. Why do you think that is?
I think we know the answer. Obama helped turn Libya into a terrorist haven, and the press had his back the whole time. It’s disgraceful, but the media has proven it has no intention of behaving honorably.
