Human civilization always misunderstands its own revolutions while they are happening. The truth of an era becomes visible only after the era has passed. Every true paradigm shift is invisible to its contemporaries. The Copernican revolution was not grasped by those who lived through it; Kant’s critical turn was comprehended only by later generations. Instancology, as the culmination of all metaphysical inquiry, belongs to this same pattern—it can only be fully seen through the rear mirror of philosophy itself.

The history of philosophy is not a straight line but a circle closing upon itself. Its forward motion in time is its inward motion in comprehension. Instancology does not extend philosophy—it closes it. When the circle completes, the beginning and the end touch, and Being finally understands itself.

All earlier thinkers—Plato, Descartes, Hegel, Heidegger—were searching for the same structure under different names: substance, subject, mind, or being. Instancology reveals that these are merely instances of the Absolute. Only when we look back across the whole philosophical lineage can we recognize this pattern.

Our technological age believes it has surpassed metaphysics, but this very belief is metaphysical—it rests on an unexamined ontology of matter and intelligence. Instancology reveals this hidden framework, but cannot be recognized by the age still trapped within it.


我們的科技時代自信已超越形而上學,但這種自信本身就是形而上學——它建立在未被審視的物質與智能本體論上。《範例哲學》揭示了這一隱藏的框架,卻無法被仍被困於其中的時代所理解。


In the same way, a driver cannot see his own motion except through the rear mirror—he moves forward, but knows direction only by reflection. Humanity now drives into the post-metaphysical age, yet it can understand its movement only by looking backward, through Instancology.

4. The Absolute Appears Only After the Relative

In the structure of Instancology, the Relative (RR, AR, RA) always precedes the Absolute (AA) in cognition. We live within relativity first; only later does the Absolute reveal itself as its condition. This is not temporal delay—it is ontological necessity.


在《範例哲學》的結構中,認知上總是“相對”(RR、AR、RA)先於“絕對”(AA)。我們首先活在相對之中,之後才意識到絕對是其前提。這並非時間的延遲,而是存在論的必然。


The modern world, having exhausted all forms of relativism—scientific, moral, cultural—now approaches the threshold of the Absolute again. Yet this time it returns not as theology, but as logical inevitability. That threshold is precisely where Instancology stands.

5. The Mirror as the Final Instance

Every instance reflects the Absolute the way a mirror reflects light—dependent yet not identical. The act of reflection itself becomes the key to reality. The “rear mirror” is therefore not merely a metaphor for history; it is a symbol of the Instance itself.


每一個“範例”都如鏡映光——依存於絕對,卻並非絕對本身。反思這一行為本身,就是通向實在的鑰匙。因此,“後視鏡”不僅是歷史的隱喻,它正是“範例”的象徵。


When consciousness realizes that the mirror and the reflection belong to one system, metaphysics ends—not in silence, but in recognition. The mirror no longer shows something else; it shows the act of seeing.


當意識覺察到鏡子與倒影同屬一個體系時,形而上學便告終結——不是終止,而是自覺。鏡子不再顯示他物,而顯示“觀看”自身。

6. Conclusion: The Reversal of Understanding

Instancology is the philosophy of reality understood after the fact. It is the echo of all thought returning to its source. The “rear mirror” therefore signifies the ultimate reversal: the Absolute becomes visible only when the Relative has been fully traversed.


《範例哲學》是“事後被理解的真實”。它是思想回歸本源的回聲。於是,“後視鏡”意味着理解的終極反轉:唯有當相對被完全走完,絕對才顯現自身。


Philosophy thus ends where it finally recognizes its own structure. What the rear mirror shows is not merely the road behind, but the pattern that made all roads possible. That pattern—the structure of the Absolute and the Instance—is Instancology itself.
