说起了物种起源，就不得不说一说哈佛经典。我早就说过最先发起哈佛经典丛书的那个家伙，就是一个哈达派。因为在他1909年最初推出的50卷哈佛经典中，有整整的两卷，第十一和第二十九卷，也就是二十五分之一的篇幅，都是达尔文的着作，古今中外，包括马克思、牛顿、伽利略、柏拉图和孔夫子在内的四百个人都算上，还包括上帝他爹，加在了一起，有一个算一个，也没有谁比达尔文更牛逼。
Originally published between 1909 and 1917 under the name Harvard Classics this stupendous 51-volume set-a collection of the greatest writings from literature, philosophy, history, and mythology-was assembled by American academic CHARLES WILLIAM ELIOT (1834-1926), Harvard University's longest-serving president. Also known as Dr. Eliot's Five Foot Shelf, it represented Eliot's belief that a basic liberal education could be gleaned by reading from an anthology of works that could fit on five feet of bookshelf. The first 25 volumes were published in 1909 followed by the next 25 volumes in 1910. The collection was enhanced when the Lectures on The Harvard Classics was added in 1914 and Fifteen Minutes a Day - The Reading Guide in 1916.
使达尔文爆得大名的，就是位列哈佛经典第十一卷的，1859年首发的《物种起源》。

比《物种起源》更牛逼的达尔文着作，不是物种起源，而是首发于1839年的《环球旅行》，当时的达尔文，年仅叁十岁。而当他于1832-1835年从事环球旅行的时候，更是初出茅庐，青涩稚嫩少不更事的毛头小伙子。
The Voyage of the Beagle is the title most commonly given to the book written by Charles Darwin and published in 1839 as his Journal and Remarks, bringing him considerable fame and respect. This was the third volume of The Narrative of the Voyages of H.M. Ships Adventure and Beagle, the other volumes of which were written or edited by the commanders of the ships. Journal and Remarks cover Darwin's part in the second survey expedition of the ship HMS Beagle. Due to the popularity of Darwin's account, the publisher reissued it later in 1839 as Darwin's Journal of Researches, and the revised second edition published in 1845 used this title.
为什么说达尔文创作于1832-1835年的环球旅行比物种起源更牛逼呢？因为到了1969年，哈佛经典出23卷收藏精装本的时候，物种起源就不见了，而环球旅行却依然在列：
常言说，不怕不识货，就怕货比货。最近有人在网上怀念叁八六，就是因为瘸子里面拔将军，和不学无术只会列书单的猪头相比，叁八六谈笑风生博览群书，不知比猪头要高出多少倍。
环球旅行之所以牛逼，是因为环球旅行孕育了生物进化，也最终造就了物种起源，而不是也不可能是反过来。
