REFEREE REPORT
This letter presents a detailed proof of xxxxx’s theorem in its simple and generalized forms, in order to clarify confusions about its applications. As examples, two applications are made, one to the classical electron and the other to static field confined in a finite region of space. The article is essentially mathematical and do not have new results justifying its publication in a letters journal of physics. Therefore, I do not recommend this manuscript to be published in EPL.

I have studied your manuscript and considered your appeal. I agree that your manuscript contains an important new result, but I also agree with the reviewer that it does not have new results justifying a publication in a letters journal. Moreover, as it is indeed essentially mathematical, it is not well suited for EPL.

I suggest that you submit it to a regular journal, a good choice would be one of those journals where a paper was published in which xxxxxx's theorem has been incorrectly used.

In conclusion, I reject your appeal.
