Try not to laugh. ----------------------- WASHINGTON (AP) -- Amid a discussion of trade in 1973, Chinese leader Mao Zedong made what U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger called a novel proposition: sending tens of thousands, even 10 million, Chinese women to the United States. http://art.mao.ap.jpg Chinese leader Mao Zedong, here depicted in an Andy Warhol painting, offered women to the U.S. "You know, China is a very poor country," Mao said, according to a document released by the State Department's historian office. "We don't have much. What we have in excess is women. So if you want them we can give a few of those to you, some tens of thousands." A few minutes later, Mao circled back to the offer. "Do you want our Chinese women?" he asked. "We can give you 10 million." After Kissinger noted Mao was "improving his offer," the chairman said, "We have too many women. ... They give birth to children and our children are too many." "It is such a novel proposition," Kissinger replied in his discussion with Mao in Beijing. "We will have to study it." 02/15/2008 Matthew "The Sweet Titz" S. says: What a great guy! My problem is why Kissinger didn't tell him to go fuck his misogynistic self (oh yeah...diplomacy and shit) 02/15/2008 Alex "Jando" S. says: HAHA KEN. Love it. Rocky: Not sure. The deal may have already happened even without Mao's approval. Just look at San Francisco & Flushing. 02/15/2008 Fabian T. says: Here's a thought. Can't we just adopt them instead when they're just little girls? Especially if we, I don't know, if we for some reason have a situation where our adult population decides to procreate much later in life but can't. Just a thought. 02/15/2008 Victor "Light My Country Music Award On Fire" L. says: I can picture reworking the P.I.M.P music video from 50 using scenes cut in from the version of Mao used in Seven Years in Tibet with Brad Pitt. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA god i'm easily amused 02/15/2008 Karen "Sweeney" M. says: @Fabian: or if we totes don't like the children in foster care, because they aren't cool like worldy orphans. 02/15/2008 Fabian T. says: Really? I am biting my lip right now - I need to limit how offensive I can get in one 24-hour period. 02/15/2008 Fabian T. says: I got 7 out of 18 right - which does bode well for me. Atif - you are well on your way! 02/15/2008 Javier M. says: Hahahaha, Where is Mao when you need him! 02/15/2008 Christopher "Summer Breeze" W. says: I love that Kissinger is deadpanning his assessment "Mao is improving his offer". Holy crap is that funny. And we should've done the deal, that 10 million lives saved. -C 02/16/2008 Diana B. says: Mao, revered by coolsters in US then, had a lor of faults. vvv wrote: 2h 3m ago ElizabethBennett wrote: Due to the 1-child policy implemented by the Chinese, 80% of the population coming of marriage-age in China is now male and there are not enough wives to go around. Perhaps we can send them 10 million American women to settle up on our Chinese trade deficit. ----- Now China can export 10 million men to the US --------------------------- Why not just send them the 10 million illegal immigrants in the US. Mexico doesn't want them anyway.
