There is no doubt that one-man/party governments are the most efficient form of governments around; however, all previous examples suggest that they will also be more corrupt and self serving than other forms of government. China has more than 2000 years of rule by such governments. The world has moved on, and so should China.
Nationalization of the military is an important step in the development of a greater China; since it makes the military not some sort of an internal palace guard; rather an international, external force at the disposal of the entire country. Of course, an abrupt removal of party authority from the military will cause chaos, and very few if any responsible people are actually suggesting that. Rather, a gradual introduction of laws and rules which separate the military and the party apparatus coupled with constitutional changes that separate military leadership and political leadership will eliminating it completely.
Of course, if Chinese people are just sheep and best served with an iron fist, then your opinion might be right.
