a) Let x = sqrt(2) + sqrt(3), herefore (x-sqrt(2))^2 = 3, hence x^2 + 2 - 2*sqrt(2)*x = 3, x^2-1=2*sqrt(2)*2, square both side again to eliminate the radical. b) Let (x-sqrt(2))^3 = 3, expande, re-arrange, square, repeat the process until radicals are gone. |
