《越界：跨国跨族的情与爱》有奖征文活动启事

什么是消灭种族之间的歧视、偏见、成见的最有效的武器？答案不是战争，不是打斗，不是争吵，而是爱情和婚姻：当两个有着不同肤色，不同文化，不同语言的人愿意住在一起并耐心地，包容地，理解地对待彼此的不同，这份不同便有机会创造出一个全新的同来；这个世界也就因此会多出一份美丽，一份和谐。当然这条路上不全是鲜花和坦途；这条路上的障碍甚至可能比任何人想象的都多：大家还记得，跨国婚姻这个话题不久前还是个禁忌。即使是现在，谈论的人也不多。可很多的东、西方读者都非常希望能读到有关这个主题的好作品，给他们现有的或将来的跨国爱情和婚姻作一点指导，一点借鉴。当然，也有纯粹是好奇，也许还带一点偏见的读者。

这就是为什么我们希望你们能拿起笔，用中文或英文（或中文和英文）写下你们真实的或源于真实的动人故事，道出“越界”的酸甜和苦辣，欢笑和哭泣。相信这将是另一个有意思又有意义的旅程。

此次有奖征文活动的截止日期是2010年8月30日。所有的参赛作品会由专家评出奖项；前三十名作品将被整理出书，版本为中英文两种。每位作者会获赠书。

评判初审：温哥华作家组成的初审评判团，约十人。

评判终审：哑弦、刘慧琴、申慧辉、王海伦、李安等。

征文日期：2010年3月18日至2010年8月30日。

征文内容：短篇小说或散文均可，五千字左右，用中文或英文书写，主题为跨族婚姻。需原创，发表过但版权归自己的作品也可。

征文奖项：一等奖：300加元，二等奖: 150加元，三等奖：100加元，优秀奖: 50加元。前三十名将由加拿大温哥华的加加拿大大大出版社集结出版，分中英文两个版本。每位作者会获赠书一本。被选中的作品，还将在中文报纸上刊登。
征文版权：获奖作品的版权及结集出书的版权归加加拿大大大出版社。

Crossing Lines: The Laughter and Tears of Interracial Relationship Contest

What is the best weapon to get rid of racism, prejudice, and stereotypes? The answer is not physical or verbal warfare; the answer is love and marriage, interracial. When two people of different colors, different cultures, and different languages come together and treat each other’s difference patiently, tolerantly, and understandingly, the difference has a chance to lead to a brand new congruity. And, the world will have more beauty and more harmony. Of course, this journey is not full of flowers and smooth rides; it can have more obstacles than anybody imagines: not too long ago, the interracial relationships were still a forbidden topic. Even now, not many talk about it. Yet, many Eastern and Western readers are eagerly waiting for others to speak up. Some of those people hope to find guidance and advice for their existing or future interracial relationships; others are simply curious, maybe even a little prejudiced. That is why we need you to pick up your pen and write down all the laughter and tears of your interracial relationship in either Chinese or English. We trust this will be another interesting and meaningful journey.

We will then collect all the stories and put them into a book. The book will have Chinese and English editions, respectively, and will be published around November 2010 by Cacanadadada Press（www.cacanadadada.com）, a publishing company based in Vancouver. The deadline is August 30th, 2010. Please send all the articles in a word file to kuaguohy@gmail.com.

More Details:

Submission Period: Entries accepted between March 8 – August 30, 2010. Early submission is encouraged.

What to Submit: Short stories, essays, or other works of prose, up to 5,000 words each, written in Chinese or English. The theme will be interracial marriage. Each entry should be your own original work, but you may submit works that have been published or won prizes elsewhere, as long as you own the publication rights.

Prizes and Publication: First prize: $300; second prize: $150; third prize: $100. There will also be two Most Highly Recommended Awards of $50 each. The top 30 entries will be published by Cacanadadada Press.

Copyrights: The copyrights of the winning works and the top 30 belong to Cacanadadada Press (www.cacanadadada.com).

Deadline: August 30, 2010. Your entry must be submitted by email to kuaguohy@gmail.com as word file by this date.
