Forour politicians, there's something truly addictive about the Chinesethat goes beyond slurping down noodles. First, foreign minister SalmanKhurshid visited China just after its forays into Ladakh made Indianssee red. But Khurshid used purple prose for China's Reds, waxingeloquent about Shanghai's infrastructure, adding chilli peppers to ourwounds by remarking how much he'd love living there!

Now, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah's returned, similarly RedStar-struck. Siddaramaiah went to Dalian, China, to attend a WorldEconomic Forum summit. His dalliance with Dalian left him agape atChina's infrastructure, especially its bullet trains and pothole-freeroads. Siddaramaiah's stated Karnataka too must enjoy such silkenstreets and instructed engineers to study how the Chinese pull off thismarvellous feat, apparently tougher for our government than even rocketscience.

Yes China can have bullet trains and expressways cos they do NOT haveuncouth uneducated villagers jumping in front of trains and demand thetrain stop on a dime! Neither are their citizens blocking the highwaysat the drop of a hat for any silly reason nor cattle straying intohighways and railways demanding right of way! Everything depend on thegeneral public only, do NOT just blame the politicians for all all illsof society. Everyone of us is responsible for the sorry state of affairsin India.

Anyone going to Shenghai should enjoy the Maglev ride. It runs fromairport to almost nowhere from where you can come back on the next trainand costs around $13 return. At 425 km per hour it is a feast.

You want to see good Roads ? No need to go all the way to China. Just gonext door to Gujarat. I am not making this up. Went to that staterecently. Forget city roads (which are superb), even ruralinfrastructure is enviable. And although Metro rail is just starting,they have achieved wonders with a First-world BRTS implementation. And Iam not a Gujarati but a neutral outsider and this is my first-handexperience.

你想看優質公路?沒必要去中國,去隔壁的古吉拉特邦就可以。我不是杜撰的,最近去了那個邦。別提(超級棒的)城市道路了,就連農村的基礎設施也令人羨慕。雖然地鐵才剛開工,不過他們已經實現了奇蹟,完工了世界一流的BRT快速通道。我不是古吉拉特邦人,而是一位中立的看客,以上是我的第一手經歷。

Yes it is true that quality of roads in Gujarat are better than in otherstates, and possibly on par with that of Tamil Nadu. Gujarat govtshould get credit for the state highway maintenance,whose length isaround 19000 kms,of which around 17000 kms are very good.

We, Indians are great self despising people of the world. We are notperfect but definitely not as bad as we paint ourself all the time. Someyears back, it was fashionable to call ourselves laggard in cellulartelephony or even rapid local area transport. Now we are one of theleaders in the field. I only want reasonably good roads rail and airtransport. Not the best in the world but most extensive and reasonablypriced. I have no complaints against my nation. It has a lot more for methan I could do for my country. THANK U MY BELOVED NATION FOR ALL THAT UPROVIDED ME ALL THESE YEARS>

I go to China for business purposes, the quality and magnamity of theinfrastructure existing in their urban areas,leave Shanghai,Hong Kong,orBeijing,even in middle tier cities like Chengdu,Chongqing, Hangzhou etcis better than in many developed Countries. Presently China has over1,00,000kms of 6/8 lane expressways,over 10,000kms of high speed railsystem(speed 300 kms/hour or above), and over 20 cities havingmetro-subway services, and 20 more cities will join them by 2016. Westand no chance of ever catching up with them,Modi too will not be ableto reduce the gap.

我因商務目的去過中國。城市地區基礎設施的質量非常棒,甚至成都、重慶、杭州等二線城市的基礎設施比許多發達國家要更好,更別提上海、香港和北京了。
目前,中國六車道或八車道的高速公路長達10多萬公里,(時速300公里以上的)高鐵超過1萬公里,20多個城市有地鐵,到2016年會有另外20多個城市加入其中。
我們根本就沒有機會趕上他們。就是穆迪上台了也沒法縮小這一差距。

nothing to study about the marvelous roads or infrastructure of china,First if you want such development then you, your party, your partiescolligues (from top to bottom) parties assets should be declared asgovernment (peoples) assets, It should be auctioned and then, you andall your party member from top to bottom should take oath that you willnot take any commission from any projects, and each project should behanded over to an eligible company which can finish of within the timeframe framed.
