On Fox News Tucker Carson has dismissed Ukraine as a failed state that should be left to fate, Putin or no Putin. Almost in the same breath, though, he has praised Poland and Hungary for defending their statehoods and liberties against foreign encroachments, especially those from the far-left types. We know that Poland and Hungary are NATO members. We also know that Ukraine can't wait to join NATO. So why, in Carlson's world, is Ukraine left out in the cold? I got no answer from his rant. 

Of course, Carlson has every right to believe that Ukraine is not worthy of our support. He also has every right to conclude that Ukraine is inviting a European war so as to benefit America's deep state otherwise known as the industrial-military complex. From where I stand, however, Ukraine is no different from Poland or Hungary when it comes to national defense. Ukraine may not be as successful as Poland or Hungary, but it is defensible. The Ukrainian people deserve respect and a chance. Here is why:

Putin has so far made no advance into Ukraine. What is he waiting for? Ukraine's unconditional surrender? It makes no sense. While waiting, Putin witnesses NATO and America getting themselves prepared for Ukraine's defense. Would Putin give up the advantage of surprise attack so easily if he means business? Meanwhile, no report from Kyiv indicates that the Ukrainian people are hiding in their basements. Life goes on. 

Like Hitler in the latter half of the 1930s, Putin is creating a series of crises to test the West. He has already gained territories from Georgia and Ukraine. How about the whole Ukraine? Germany's softness, needless to say, has hardened his resolve. But his ambition is now checked by America's threat to the Russian banking system. No cash. No war. Game over.

Tucker, you are right about Biden's dismal failure in securing America's southern border. But that does not mean we should therefore turn a blind eye to Ukraine's border crisis.
