In 1980 Nobel economist Paul A. Samuelson (1915-2009) predicted in his college textbook that the Soviet Union would overtake the United States sometime between 2002 and 2012. Also in 1980 Nobel economist Milton Friedman (1912-2006) published his bestseller "Free to choose." He heralded Ronald Reagan's "Morning in America." On December 26, 1991 the Soviet Union was no more. History has dumped Samuelson and picked Friedman. Author: renqiulan
