The three-self principle was born many years before the founding of PRC. It is the patriotic part that was added after new China. Besides, three-self principle was championed first not by Chinese, but some foreign missionaries in China. That principle was applied elsewhere in mission also, not just in China. Be careful when we discuss three-self principle vs. three-self patriotic movement. |
