Follow Him To Nineveh
跟隨祂到尼尼微

The subject of God's will is often one of great concern to growing
Christians. Those who have accepted the forgiving grace of Jesus now
have a desire to live a life which brings Him glory and honor. We have
read we are to present ourselves as "living sacrifices, holy and
pleasing to God" (Romans 12:1), and we're ready to do His will; but what
does God want us to do, where does He want us to go?
上帝的旨意是成長中的基督徒極為關切的一個題目。對每一個已經接受耶穌赦罪恩典的人而言，都積極地渴望要活出彰顯上帝榮耀的生活。我們都讀到，我們要“把自己當作活活的祭物獻給上帝，專心事奉祂，蒙祂喜悅”（羅12:1），同時我們也準備要遵行祂的旨意﹔但是上帝到底要我們作什麼﹖要我們去那裡呢﹖究竟我們要如何知道祂的計劃呢﹖
Fortunately, much of God's will is found directly in His Word. It's
God's will that we live a pure and holy life (1 Thessalonians 4:3-7),
and obey His commands (John 15:10). It's God's will that we love Him
with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30), that we
remain in Him and bear much fruit (John 15:1-8), that we forgive others
(Matthew 6:14-15), love others (1 John 4:7), and share the message of
Jesus with others (Matthew 28:19-20). It's also God's will to "be
joyful always; pray continuously; {and}give thanks in all circumstances"
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
好在我們可以從祂的話（His Word）中發現祂對我們人生大部份的安排。祂要我們過單純、聖潔的生活（帖前4:3-7），遵行祂的命令（約15﹕10）﹔要全心、全意、全力地愛祂（可12﹕30），常在祂裡面、結出好果子（約15﹕1-8）﹔要寬恕他人（太6﹕14-15），愛他人（約壹4:7），和他人分享耶穌傳揚的訊息（太28:19-20）﹔祂也要我們“常常喜樂、常常禱告、在任何時候都要感謝”（帖前5:16-18）。
This list is not complete, but it's a good sampling of what is referred
to as God's "general" will - His will for all His children as we are
"conformed to the likeness of His Son" (Romans 8:29). God's general
will involves a lifetime of worship and abiding in His presence. We
still must pray for guidance and strength in following His general will,
but we need not desperately search - His general will has already been
revealed in His Word.

God's specific will for our life comes as a very direct, clear, and
persistent call. This call is perhaps best demonstrated in the life of Jonah.
Jonah 1:2
"Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its
wickedness has come up before Me."
上帝給人的特殊旨意會以一個直接、清晰、持續的呼召而出現。這樣的呼召，在約拿的生命中可以得到最好的印證。
拿1﹕2 “你往尼尼微那大城去，公開斥責那裡的人，因為我注意到他們是多麼邪惡﹗”
God's specific will for Jonah was clear and with a definite purpose.
Jonah then had a choice whether to obey and follow. Jonah tried to run
from God's will - run from Nineveh - and spent three days inside a giant
fish. After the fish vomited Jonah onto dry land, God calmly revealed
His will a second time; "Go to the great city of Nineveh..." (Jonah
3:2). God's call remained exactly the same; His specific will for Jonah
was unchanged. This time, "Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord" (Jonah 3:3).
上帝給約拿的特殊旨意非常清楚、有一個明確的目標。約拿可以選擇要不要遵行。他起先嘗試逃離上帝的旨意--逃離尼尼微，最後在大魚肚子裡過了三天。等到魚把約拿吐到干地上，上帝平靜的再度顯示祂的呼召：“你往尼尼微那大城去，…”（拿3﹕2），上帝的呼召仍然不變，祂對約拿的特殊旨意並未修改。這一次，“約拿服從上主的命令”（拿3﹕3）。

There are vast portions of God's will which are already revealed in His
Word. We must develop the discipline of reading and studying His Word -
studying His will - and then follow what He has already commanded. For
the part of God's will which is specific to our life, we must listen
intently, pray diligently, and wait very patiently. But when His
specific direction arrives (and we will know when God calls) we must be
prepared to abandon all else and boldly follow Him to Nineveh!
上帝絕大部份的旨意已經在祂的話中揭露給我們。我們要有紀律地研讀祂的話--研究祂的旨意--，並且遵從祂已經給我們的命令。至於上帝對我們生命的特殊安排，我們必須專心的聽、勤奮地禱告、並且耐心地等候。但是當祂的特殊旨意臨到我們時（我們會知道祂的呼召），我們必須準備好拋棄其它的所有，昂首闊步地走向尼尼微。
