[kjv] God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

9:24-27　這段經文在教會史中曾被誤用，作為支持種族歧視和奴隸制度的聖經根據。挪亞的咒詛只是針對迦南族，而不是所有含的後裔。神知道迦南族會變得敗壞，到約書亞時代，以色列人進入應許地，迦南人被趕出，挪亞的咒詛應驗了。

12. 當挪亞醒了酒，知道含所作的事，就咒詛含的兒子迦南。既
然含羞辱了父親挪亞，一個恰當的咒詛就是讓含也因着兒子
受到相應的羞辱。
迦南的後裔就是不敬虔、不道德的迦南人。他們住在巴
勒斯坦地時，閃的後裔脫離在埃及為奴的束縛，在約書亞的
帶領下回到迦南地（見申7：1－5），從此迦南人就屈從於
猶太人。
