You cannot use our current standard directly aply to history without taking into account the history background. The last several hundred years changed significantly. Can you image there were slavery in US, possibly 100 years ago, (I don't know the detail number). And in PBS, I learned that Chinese were not considered as citizen in US 50 ot 60 years ago. The concept seems so distance, but it's not far away.
Meanwhile, people in other history time might not like us too much either. For example, there was talks here just a couple months ago saying "子不嫌母醜,而不言父過", but that is barely enough, to meet the old tradition standard, you also need to "君叫臣死,臣不得不死;父叫子亡,子不得不亡". So that generation might be terrified thinking that our generation would be so "大逆不道“。 You might never know what next few generations will view us either.
I like the example of "Mirrors" a few weeks back. Most of the time, even when we thought we were thinking in other people's situation, we were still using our own standard to judge others, (using our left and right as a standard.).
Maybe we should only use "Mirror" to check us, to correct our mis-behaviors. Just think if I were them, will I be able to act like them? Will I be able to act like them by my own strength?
Same thing for the attitudes towards some pastors like Brother Yuan etc. Will you be any better than them if you were in their shoes? Personally, I would not dare to say that, since I know several of my friends decided to go to Full Time ministry, yet I have so much worries for my family, my kids, and I also know that how filthy I am, worring that I might failed or sinned against God miserablly in my life.
IF GOD can use a murder SAUL, and turned him into PAUL; what am I, dare to question his deed?
