24:10 那仆人从他主人的骆驼里取了十匹骆驼,并带些他主人各样的财物,起身往美索不达米亚去,到了拿鹤的城。
24:11 天将晚,众女子出来打水的时候,他便叫骆驼跪在城外的水井那里。
24:12 他说:“耶和华我主人亚伯拉罕的 神啊,求你施恩给我主人亚伯拉罕,使我今日遇见好机会。
24:13 我现今站在井旁,城内居民的女子们正出来打水。
24:14 我向哪一个女子说:‘请你拿下水瓶来,给我水喝。’她若说:‘请喝,我也给你的骆驼喝。’愿那女子就作你所预定给你仆人以撒的妻。这样,我便知道你施恩给我主人了。”
24:15 话还没有说完,不料,利百加肩头上扛著水瓶出来。利百加是彼土利所生的,彼土利是亚伯拉罕兄弟拿鹤妻子密迦的儿子。
24:16 那女子容貌极其俊美,还是处女,也未曾有人亲近她。她下到井旁,打满了瓶,又上来。
24:17 仆人跑上前去迎著她说:“求你将瓶里的水给我一点喝。”
24:18 女子说:“我主请喝。”就急忙拿下瓶来,托在手上给他喝。
24:19 女子给他喝了,就说:“我再为你的骆驼打水,叫骆驼也喝足。”
24:20 她就急忙把瓶里的水倒在槽里,又跑到井旁打水,就为所有的骆驼打上水来。
24:21 那人定睛看她,一句话也不说,要晓得耶和华赐他通达的道路没有。
24:22 骆驼喝足了,那人就拿一个金环,重半舍客勒,两个金镯,重十舍客勒,给了那女子,
24:23 说:“请告诉我,你是谁的女儿?你父亲家里有我们住宿的地方没有?”
24:24 女子说:“我是密迦与拿鹤之子彼土利的女儿。”
24:25 又说:“我们家里足有粮草,也有住宿的地方。”
24:26 那人就低头向耶和华下拜,
24:27 说:“耶和华我主人亚伯拉罕的 神是应当称颂的,因他不断地以慈爱诚实待我主人。至于我,耶和华在路上引领我,直走到我主人的兄弟家里。”

井旁遇见良人……
24:11 井是全村的主要水源,通常是在城外的大路旁边。人们常要走一公里左右的路到井那里打水回家。农夫和牧人从附近的田间打水给他们的牲畜喝。井边是一个认识新朋友和跟旧朋友闲谈的好地方,利百加每日两次到井边打水。
成为别人学习信心的榜样,亚伯拉罕做到了,我有没有这样的目标?
24:12 亚伯拉罕的老仆人求神引领他完成这极其重要的任务。他一定从主人身上学到很多信心的功课,并且认识神。你的亲友和同事从你身上认识神多少?我们要像亚伯拉罕一样建立信心的榜样;也要像他的老仆人一样,凡事都寻求神的引导。
亚伯拉罕的仆人向神求明确的凭证对不对呢?
24:14 他所求的凭证跟一般情形稍有不同。按当时接待客旅的习惯,井旁的妇人会打水给行路疲乏的人喝,而不是他们的牲畜。亚伯拉罕的仆人只是求神指示他,使他遇到愿意服事人的、甚至超越平常惯例的女子。愿意打水给骆驼喝,是愿意服事人的表现。他知道正直的重要,他不求神使他遇见富有、漂亮的女子,因为他知道内心正直才是最主要的条件,所以求神这样帮助他完成任务。
娶妻求淑妇──我著重的是人的外观,还是内心的美丽?
24:15-16 利百加样貌美丽,但是老仆人注重的是她的内在美。我们看重外表,常花时间和金钱来修饰,我们又花了多少功夫来建立内在美呢?忍耐、慈爱、喜乐能使我们真正讨人喜爱。
利百加遇人有需要即帮忙;当别人有需要时,我是视而不见,还是……
24:18-21 利百加愿意立刻打水给老仆人和他的骆驼喝,清楚显明她乐意服事人。打水的瓶子又大又重,而走了一个星期路程的骆驼,需饮大量的水──每头可饮九百多公升。老仆人看到利百加取水饮骆驼,就知道她是尽心工作的人。你有没有服事人的精神?当有人向我们求助,或我们看到别人有需要时,我们要尽力而为。
亚伯拉罕的仆人懂得立即感恩,而我却……
24:26-27 亚伯拉罕的仆人知道神垂听了他的祷告,就立刻感谢神的美善和引导。只要我们像那老仆人一样合神使用,神也必使用我们、引领我们,而我们第一个反应也该是赞美和感谢神拣选我们,在我们身上动工,并透过我们工作。

9. 于是仆人踏上了600多公里的征途,前往亚伯拉罕先前所居
之地,兄弟拿鹤现在的居所,巴旦亚兰的哈兰城,去为以撒
寻找新娘(24:10;参见22:20-24)。有意思的是亚伯
拉罕没有到其他的亲戚(比如罗得)那里挑选新娘。
10. 将到那城时,仆人设计了一个在主前求的印证,求神指定那
女子!(24:11-14)。
“我向那一个女子说:‘请你拿下水瓶来,给我水喝。’
她若说:‘请喝,我也给你的骆驼喝。’愿那女子就
作你所预定给你仆人以撒的妻。这样,我便知道你施
恩给我主人了。”(24:14)
注意老仆人的祷告不光是为作成此事,而且是让神“施恩
(hesed)给我主人亚伯拉罕”(24:12)。Hesed意为“守
约的爱”,因此老仆人实际求神所作的是:显明神信守他对
亚伯拉罕的应许!
11. 利百加恰是第一个出现在井边的女子,她也是最佳人选(24:
15-16)。不仅如此,她一丝不差地印证了老仆人设计的试
验(24:13-20),包括为骆驼打水,因为她有一颗乐意服
侍的心。
12. 这时老仆人的反应只能说是惊叹不已(24:21)。他立即奉
送了礼物,并询问她的家世(24:22-24)。
当利百加热情相邀时(24:25),老仆人就赞美神的带
领。
“那人就低头向耶和华下拜,说:‘耶和华我主人亚伯
拉罕的神是应当称颂的,因他不断的以慈爱诚实待我
主人。至于我,耶和华在路上引领我,直走到我主人
的兄弟家里。’”(24:26-27)
真的,这老仆人实在是亲眼看见了神之手的带领!

24:23 [hgb] 说、请告诉我、你是谁的女儿、你父亲家里有我们住宿的地方没有。
[lzz] 说∶「请告诉我,你是谁的女儿?你父家里有没有地方给我们住宿?」
[ngb] 然后问她:“请你告诉我,你是谁的女儿?你父亲的家里有地方给我们住宿没有?”
[asv] and said, Whose daughter art thou? Tell me, I pray thee. Is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?

[lzz] 说∶「永恒主我主人亚伯拉罕的上帝是当受祝颂的;他不放弃他的慈爱和忠信而不施于我主人;至于我呢,永恒主也在路上、带领了我到我主人的兄弟家里。」
[ngb] 说:“耶和华我主人亚伯拉罕的 神是应当称颂的,因为他不断以慈爱和信实待我的主人;耶和华也一路引导我,到了我主人的兄弟家里。”
[asv] And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham, who hath not forsaken his lovingkindness and his truth toward my master. As for me, Jehovah hath led me in the way to the house of my master's brethren.
[kjv] And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.
[bbe] And said, Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has given a sign that he is good and true to my master, by guiding me straight to the house of my master's family.
