I agree Capture the site is not a solution. However, ralative URL can be blocked as soon as they blcok the IP address. What I suggest is a work around. Just image you can capture a site and packaged and send to friends. Take a look at the link below, and you will see how nice that software works, and your friend can at least read static links. (I will delete these files in two days, before BBSLAND.COM complains. I do this for testing only, and will not do this anymore.) Agree that BBS will update very seconds. But before a final solution, a static one is much better then nothing. As far as the big file concern. I captured the whole site under 10 minutes, result in a <10M folder. 4.89M after ZIP. http://www.thywillservice.com/download/Testing/rainbow.zip (I will keep this for two days, you can ask your friend to download). Originally, I tested the tool on the purpose to archive this board. Do you know that Rainbow post was only kept for less than 2 weeks? Well, it's was about 40 pages list, now it's less than 25 pages, the size from 32M reduce to 10M. Probably that can give a hint that we have less writers and readers. (Time to pray). As for how to send packages, there are a lot of ways to do that, I only listed these few: Nice things about 6 and 7 is that you can schedule the tools to run regulary, and your friend will always be able to get updated one. Another benefit is: your friend can get the ZIP file, unzip to hard disk, then they can read it offline. (Save on connection time, and money.) If your friend are interested in several sites, you can run it once, and burn a CD for them. PS: Are you guys in Computer fields? Contact me and we can discuss in email. |
