我要进城 I want to go to the city,
人人都在城里面 for everyone is living there,

他们说拿你所有的一切交换吧 The citizens had me empty my all to enter.
我打开口袋 I opened my bag
把丁香花和马铃薯一起出售 and sold lilacs and potatoes.
城门大开的时候 When the city gate was wide open,
哥哥你哭了 you were crying, my darling.
我一定要去 But I have to go there.
我付出一切 不能不走 I have paid up my all for it and cannot stay put.
