1．今年就提前談判簽大合同；
2．明年再簽大合同；
3．明年選擇成為受限制自由球員。即別隊可以來與火箭競價。所以姚明拿頂薪幾乎已成定局，姚黑要氣死了。

其他選擇：

• 基德來的可能性極小，除非火箭老闆願付豪華稅，或拿姚明去換，這個可能性更小。
• 火箭有一個中產階級條款可用（下賽季大約5百萬），可以用來簽一個馬上就能用的大前鋒。但是過高的期望只是畫餅，什麼馬紹爾，錢德勒，墨菲等都是要拿頂薪或接近頂薪的。
• 火箭有一個首輪第24位選秀權，順位太低，不太可能選到像樣的大前鋒。

再說一遍，火箭主導換人的是經理道森而不是范甘迪，道森和老闆商量做決定，他當然應該諮詢一下范甘迪，但也有例外的時候，以前看到消息說有一個交換（忘了是哪次了），是敲定以後，范甘迪和球員才被告知的，老范還表示驚奇。現在我們看到老頭隊的弊病了，關鍵時刻頂不住，又給進一步交換帶來極大的困難。
