NBA小故事 From Yahoo

Each weekday morning, BDL serves up a handful of NBA-related stories to digest with your chocolaty hazelnut spread. Julian Benbow, Boston Globe: "Celtics forward Glen Davis is currently at Brigham and Women's Hospital after a mid-afternoon car crash on the Mass Pike. Team spokesman Jeff Twiss said Davis suffered whiplash and a concussion. He will miss today's game against New York, and the status of his return is undetermined. Twiss said Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge was at the hospital with Davis, who will turn 23 on New Years Day. Twiss said the Celtics will likely know more about Davis's condition [later today]." Baby,an Big baby. Fred Kerber, New York Post: "Whether or not there is a problem with Yi Jianlian's age, the Nets don't seem to care. A report in China that surfaced on the Internet yesterday claimed to have documentation that Yi is 24, and not 21 as he and his passport claim. It is not the first time Yi's age has come under question. 'I'm 21,' Yi said. 'This story started a long time ago. Some guy just wanted something to write about.' The Nets have official documents for Yi showing his birth year as 1987 which would make him 21. And even if he were 24, no big deal. 'I'm not concerned,' said Nets GM Kiki Vandeweghe. 'Any time you have someone who is not from this country, those issues arise.'" Sam Amick, Sac Bee: "The trade chatter surrounding Brad Miller continues, as well it should. He's atop the list of most likely Kings next to go, and league sources continue to indicate that the Kings are officially engaged and somewhat motivated on the trade front. The latest Miller report to pop up comes from ESPN's Marc Stein, who says Charlotte is offering former King Gerald Wallace in return for Miller. While Wallace is available for the right player in return, I'm told from a source close to the Bobcats that Miller does not fit that bill if it's up to Larry Brown. [...] I'd be more inclined to keep an eye on the Chicago situation in which Miller could go there and the Kings likely would have their eyes on Drew Gooden, Joakim Noah, and perhaps Tyrus Thomas." Peter Vescey, New York Post: "Almost a year later, hotel people out here are still badmouthing Mike Bibby for insisting on ordering everything not on the menu for his party of hangers-on ('I want fried chicken just the way my mother makes it ...') and then trying to sign Ron Artest's name and room to a $330 bill. Precluded from doing so by the waiter, Bibby sniffed the waiter with a sneer, leaving no gratuity. This obnoxious behavior occurred a couple days before the Kings traded him to the Hawks." Ira Winderman, South Florida Sun Sentinel: "Lose to the Grizzlies; beat the Lakers in the same week. Win four in a row; lose the next three. So is this to be the story of the still-growing, still-learning Miami Heat? 'I think it's a common thread with young teams,' coach Erik Spoelstra said before Saturday's game against the Nets. 'Something we're trying to build is consistency.' Spoelstra said with such a young roster he expected an uneven ride. 'Six of our top nine guys haven't played two years of actual game experience,' he said. 'So it's going to take a while to learn our system and learn the league at the same time.'" John Shea, San Fran Chronicle: "Stephen Jackson denied reports of a recent confrontation — being called out by coach Don Nelson for hurting the team with his sub-par play. 'That was false,' Jackson said. 'You ask Coach, it never happened. But if it did, why would it be a problem? He's the head coach. He's allowed to call anybody out, but that wasn't the situation. ... Since I've been here, Coach and I have been on the same page. I've always given Coach the respect he deserves, and that won't change for anything.' Jackson will be out at least until Friday with a sore left hand." Ivan Carter, Washington Post: "As the losing continues and the frustration begins to set in, Washington Wizards co-captain Caron Butler stressed the importance of remaining positive after the team's latest setback, a home loss to Philadelphia on Friday night. 'We've just got to remain positive from top to bottom,' Butler said. 'We've just got to remain positive and stay on the same page because with all this losing, it's easy to get separated.' Interim coach Ed Tapscott said that's just the kind of outlook from his veterans that can help the Wizards stay focused. [...] 'We have new players playing. That's when your cohesion suffers a little bit, but that's no excuse. We've got enough to get it done, and we should be getting it done.'" Preetom Bhattacharya, HoopsWorld: "After losing two games in a row for the first time this season, the Los Angeles Lakers are approaching a bit of a crossroads as many begin to wonder if the team is as good as they showed when the season began. The answer, at this time, is an unknown. But that hasn't stopped the heavy Laker fandom from panicking and clamoring for changes, fueling rumors of possible trade scenarios that could bring back the kind of talent that would shake the Lakers up just enough to take them to the next level. There has already been gossip about Sasha Vujacic being made available as he joins Lamar Odom, who has had a perpetual seat on the trade block, atop the 'most likely to be moved' list."
