看上去小襖是迫不及待要進入高中了。9年級的選課要經過初中老師推薦認可，課程表已經下來了，都是同課目中高難度的，其中AP BIOLOGY需要化學和生物作基礎，通常11年級時才選。我有些擔心，與教這門課的老師交流，老師說，的確需要一些基礎知識，但是既然老師推薦了，說明該學生有接受挑戰的能力，你就表瞎操心啦。

給小襖分析了一下形勢，她立刻有了方案：暑假這麼長，可以用來補習基礎知識啊。說干就干，去圖書館借了很多相關的書，從假期第一周她就着手實施了。也是啊，小襖什麼時候讓我操心過？她對自己的事，從出發點到目的地，總是安排得有條有序，常令我感嘆，遺傳只是基礎，進化還得靠變異哈。

老師布置了暑期閱讀書目，20多本，她又給自己加了一碼：寫讀後感。在這裡和大家分享最新的一篇，“there is always a silver lining to every gray cloud”是我對這篇讀後感的讀後感，同時我也學到了一句諺語：山窮水盡疑無路，烏雲也有銀鑲圈。GO, LBJ!

 

Hate List-Jennifer Brown

Once, there was a girl and boy. They were so caught up in hate; they decided to create a list of things they hated. At first, it started out with things like homework or school, but as time went on, the boy and girl began adding the names of people. The list grew, until there were hundreds of names. At last, on May 2, 2008, something inside the boy snapped, and he went on a rampage, shooting those that were on the list. After killing a few students, the girl decided that he needed to be stopped. The boy was getting ready to shoot another person, but at the least minute, the girl jumped in, saving the student but injuring herself in the process. Anguished, the boy turned his gun onto his own head and killed himself.

That boy was Nick Levil, school-renowned bad boy.

The girl? Valerie Leftman, also known as Sister Death.

Both were outcasts, thrown away from society, simply because they were too 'different' from others.

The list, now known as the infamous "Hate List", was Valerie's idea.

Was that why she felt so guilty?

Was that why she felt responsible for the deaths of so many students?

After the shooting, Valerie is blamed for the murders that went on in Garvin High School. Her friends, teachers, even her parents blame the crime on her. But they seem to forget that the man who did the shooting is dead. Everyone is accusing her, and later, she starts to lose herself, and begins to believe the lies that the media has spun. Suddenly, her desire to become herself again is fired up, and she goes through a journey of understanding, hope, and free-will.

Valerie is an extremely dependent and strong-willed girl. Her desire to prove herself is astounding, and her attitude never ceases to amuse me. In her high school year, she goes through a tragedy, losing her friends and some of her family members. However, this does not stop her from giving up completely. After meeting Jessica, a member of the Hate List, she finds that there is always a silver lining to every gray cloud. Before, she was always scornful of people, "hating" them for the slightest things. Even looking at her funny would bring the person onto the Hate List. After her change, she learns to trust others, including her former enemies, and herself, too.

Hate List is an amazing book about forgiveness, mistakes, bonds, and the importance of moving on. It shows how ones can redeem themselves after a tragedy, even if no one believes in them anymore. An important lesson from this book is that not everyone is who he or she may seem to be. Do not judge a book by their cover, one would say. They could be rude and nasty in the beginning, but you never know what is hidden behind that layer. Always keep your mind and heart open.

I would recommend this novel if you are into the kind of books where the main character goes through an enormous change for the better, and in the process, find their true meaning. Hate List is an original and outstanding read, and it would be perfect for anyone that wants a dose of inspiration.
