only thing I found counter-intuitive is that that ball bounces higher on
clay court than on hard court. Given that the ball doesn't lose as much
momentum on hard court as on clay court, you think it would be the
opposite.

"The loose sand grains cause a higher bounce." -- hard to grasp.

A while ago I read some lab actually measured it and reported the same
result. Guess have to take it as a fact.
