Weight training, based on my own experience,
definitely helps one's volleyball game. For hitting, blocking, even passing and digging, especially for ball control. You don;t really lose a lot of quickness or flexibility by gaining muscles, particularly upper body. On the contrary, muscles help your body control. The only racial difference based on my observation might be blacks and whites can deliver more power from the same amount of muscles than asians.
