will need 3 lens to get the same range of Canon S5(36mm-432mm), and NO moive mode. I want a hybrid DC which can shoot decent still image and decent video comparable to mini-DV.

I already have S3, which is perfect for my goal mentioned above. The IQ is among the best for P&S camera, the surprisingly good video quality can make you forget your DV for a while especially outdoors under good lighting condition. But the LCD and EFV is too small and grainy to use under normal sunbeam. S5 has much much better LCD and a new hotshoe which I fall for, but the additional 2MP on the same tiny sensor makes more noise than S3. Although not a deal breaker, I am looking for an effective measure to reduce the noise down to the S3 level which I can happily accept.

So, that why I am thinking to downsize the 8mp on S5 to 5mp, comparable to the 6mp on S3. Thanks.
