我的第一帖和最後一帖關於王ZZ

事情的來龍去脈:

Last summer, CBA wanted Wang to go back to join the national team to prepare for the world championship. At that moment, want was renewing his contract and obviously, Dallas would not give him a good one. It was proven later that Cuban only wanted to sign him with around 700,000 a year. Nobody could accept that both money and pride wise. In order to get a better contract, WZZ had to play in the summer league and prove himself worthy more than that so that he denied to go back to practice with the national team. He only offered to unite with the team in U.S. CBA refused that and demanded him to practice in China. The case was never setteled ever since.

For Chinese basketball fans: they lost a good player and the once national hero to watch.

For national team: they lost the second best player in the team to enable them to compete in the world scale.

For CBA: they lost their "face" and jeopordized their rankings by not succeeding in the 2008 olympics.

For WZZ: he lost the great opportunity to represent his own nation, i.e. lost a 1.3 billion market behind him and lost his biggest supporters to allow him to succeed in U.S. Now, if he is going to succeed in NBA, it's all because of his basketball skills. He has nothing to fall back on.

Whose fault:

CBA:

(1) Why can't you be more generous? ZZ was fighting for his contract, in another term, 飯碗. There is nothing wrong for him to play in the first summer league.

(2) Why can't you be equal to all the players? Bateers stayed in the U.S. until his contract was settled this year. So you tell me that you can open one door for Bateer and shut off the other one for ZZ???

(3) Are you guys idiots? For such big an organization, you could not tract down where he was in U.S. You sent two officials and didn't know where to go in advance? Shame on you. Sounds bulls*h*i*t to me. Use those spies. The Chinese taxpayers paid for them.

(4) if CBA can be more professional, straight and understanding, it could be settled easily: just tell him ok that we know you are fighting for your contract. we can allow you to play the first summer league, but you have to meet the national team in Canada and skip the second summer league. And we want you to understand that this is the only exception because of your current situation. Next time, you have to represent the national team and fulfill all of your tasks, including the asian games and pratising with the team whenever we call you. That's it. I believe WZZ woudl be more than thrilled to accept it. Both sides saved their difficulties and faces.

For Wang ZZ

(1) The most stupid thing he has ever done is to sign that "gay" look agent Chan. He was totally controlled by this guy and his whole case was mismanaged by this guy. All of his communication channels were cut off by this guy. And this guy knows nothing about China, knows nothing about basketball. He is just a 寄生蟲! At least get WZZ a contract with a eastern team. Big guys who can shoot is desperately needed for them! Don't tell me you can't find one. If that Clipper owner was willing to pay from his own pocket, there must be someone else who would too!

(2) If there was anything wrong with ZZ, that is because of his own stupidity. Everyone would understand your situation last year, but, you have to let those officials know. You have to explain your situation clearly to them and ask for their understanding. Hiding, cutting off communication channels and behaving naively would not do you any GOOD!!!

If you tell them that I am trying to get a contract and I have to play in the summer league. Otherwise, I would lose my job. By doing this, I lose my job and you lose your face because I am also your face too. If it happened, everyone including the higher ranked officials would know it is your fault. Are you able to take the responsibilities? Tell them this is the only time that you would skip the practice with your beloved national team. I would fulfill all of my duties in the future.

I would not believe that CBA would not allow this because you don't want to push somebody to the edge too, right? Afraid of your jobs if he lost his? Sounds familiar?

It's all about negotiation and compromise. Unfortunately, both parties missed their fair shares to save their faces which is the most important thing for our Chinese.

I don't see any solution now. The only possible way for WZZ to play in the 2008 Olympics, if he is not buried in the NBA benches, is that he becomes a somewhat star in NBA and he finds a way to apologize somehow.

SAD for me, as a fan.
