have you heard "too big to fail." Those huge financial institutions have reached a point that their failure would have a huge negative impact to the economy that is disastrous. Yes, maybe let them fail is beneficial in the long run, but we cannot skip the next 10 years and live from 2020 on. We need to care about short term effect as well.
