While the axiomatic approach could possibly be applied to theology, two cautionary notes are necessary.

First, the essence of an axiomatic approach is to reason in a logically consistent manner and to highlight the indispensable assumptions (i.e., the "axioms"). If one follows this approach, chances are that he/she will find "God" at best as an assumption in a self-consistent framework and that this "God" assumption is dispensable - the role of "God" can be substituted by "nature," "fundamental laws of physics," or "Tao," etc.

Second, the axiomatic approach means that the framework is open to any criticism and ready to compete with alternative frameworks. That runs against the intolerant and absolutist nature of the main western religions such as Christianity and Islam.
