“Make up” 有好幾個成語式的用法。

“Make up”  有“構成”，“編造”，“虛構”，“藉口”，“和解”，“清理”，“決定”，“賠償”，“打扮”，“化妝”等等意思。

下面介紹九個用法。大家知道它們的意思嗎？

1. Foreign students make up most of that class.

2. I am not making this up; this unfortunate incident actually happened to me.

3. Henry will make up an excuse for not remembering to buy the present.

4. George is sorry that he and Sandra had an argument on their honeymoon. George says to Sandra, “Let’s make up. Let’s not fight anymore.”

5. John tells the housekeeper to make up the room while he is away.

6. I’ve made up my mind; I’m not going to marry Kevan.

7. The airline company will make up your loss; they admit it was their fault.

8. The models are heavily made up before they enter the runway.

9. Ivan tells Eva, “I let you down. I’ll make it up to you.”
