My comment: Iraq ranks quite low, in fact, it's the lowest of any of the "major" conflicts when one considers the number of men deployed (150,000 - 250,000) over 4 1/2 years.

The war most similiar in characteristic and scope to Iraq was the Spanish American War followed by the Philippine occupation which had the combined war deaths of (2,446 + 4,196) = 6,642.
