幾年前, 在拉斯維加斯的音樂噴泉表演中第一次聽到這首歌。當時不知道歌的名字, 只是留下了很深的印象。

後來在一個介紹意大利盲人歌手Andrea Bocelli 的電視節目中才知這是他和英國著名女高音Sarah Brightman 合唱的 “Time to say goodbye”。其實這首歌最初是給Andrea寫的, 但在意大利並沒引起太大的反響。最終使這首歌傳遍世界的卻是在德國舉行的一場拳擊賽。

故事是這樣的。德國當時著名拳王 Henry Maske 要舉辦告別賽, 比賽由電視實況播出。唱片公司為了推廣這首歌, 請來Andrea Bocelli 和 Sarah Brightman在比賽前演唱, 並在歌詞中加了一句英文。這場比賽拳王打輸了。正當拳王疲憊的走向出口時, Time to say goodbye 的歌聲再次響起。略帶憂傷的旋律伴隨著拳王老去的背影，使在場的觀眾無不動容。
