首先，诗歌翻译是一种再创作，不但要贴意，更要出神，也就是说，不但要用中国人的思维读懂原作，把意思翻出来，还要找到英语或者美语贴近的语言环境和习惯用法，或者说法：也就是说李白的原作是中国人的说话方式，千万别顺着中国人说话的方式翻译，要用英文的习惯手法。
；另外要求对仗，如果原作对仗，其他部分可以稍微松散一些，最后是节奏。
当然，如果能灵感来袭，翻译出一两句传世的家具，真人生之大幸！诗坛之大幸！吾辈之大幸也，可遇不可求。
所以，轻易不要翻译古诗歌，除非有灵感，好像再写一手，将进酒，用英文。
首先，这首的第一个高潮是：黄河之水天上来。
这句的气势一定要翻出来，好像唱歌的第一句。
我们对比一下豌豌和兰兰的各自翻译：
豌版：

Can't you see,

waters of the Yellow River come from the sky,

run in torrents toward the sea and never come back.

Don’t thou see,  the water of the Yellow River comes from the sky  in torrents,

Roaring fiercely  toward the sea non-return?

the waters 是《圣经》里面第一章《创世纪》对大洪水时“水”的描述，所以用复数+定冠词，所以，2人的翻译都在语法上稍微有些偏差，但不重要。后来水势减了以后，圣经就是the water和the waters混用了，见创世纪的第8章。
那么这句的气势如何翻出来呢？从节奏上讲，从英文上讲，越简单气势就越宏大，越复杂罗嗦，气势就小，这个是英文和中文的差异。
所以这样翻，似乎气势更好一些：
Would you see? falling down the sky,  the waters of yellow river running to the sea and never come back.
Would you see? facing toward the mirror, the sadly hairs of your parents ....


人生得意须尽欢，莫使金樽空对月。
豌：

Everyone ought to enjoy life to the fullest during good times,

never leave a depleted golden wine barrel facing the moon.

Lets celebrate the life passionately when it is yet in joy,

Never  raise thy golden goblet to the Moon empty.

天生我材必有用，千金散尽还复来。
豌：

God has conferred me talent and there will be my time,

fortunes may fritter away but you can regain everything.
兰：

We're naturally born with capability,

We must achieve something great one day,

Gold could be gone,

Gold would come back again.
