哈佛今年錄取新生少數族裔首度過半?

近日裡，大小媒體紛紛報導，今年哈佛錄取新生少數族裔首度過半。請看，

各文中，引述了哈佛今年的錄取數據。2017年的錄取新生中50.8%來自少數族裔。其中，亞裔占22.2%，是人數最多的少數族裔學生；14.6%是非裔美籍，11.6%是拉丁族裔，2.5%是原住民或太平洋島人。稱這是歷年來首度過半，去年則是47.3%。

一些中文媒體也相繼跟着報導，“哈佛新生少數族裔首度過半亞裔最多”“打破創校380年紀錄！哈佛新生少數族裔首度過半”…。

看得好奇，便查閱了一下去年四月《Harvard Magazine》來自HARVARD COLLEGE的文告。內有這麼一段，

A record 14 percent of the admitted students are African-American and 22.1 percent are Asian-American, also a record. Latinos are 12.7 percent after last year’s record 13.3 percent; Native Americans are 2.2 percent (1.5 percent last year) and Native Hawaiians 0.4 percent (0.5 percent last year).” Of the admitted students, 48.4 percent are women (up fractionally from last year), and about 15 percent are first-generation college students.

說的是，2016年的錄取新生中，亞裔占22.1%，14%非裔，12.7%拉丁族裔，2.6%是原住民或太平洋島人。也就是說，去年，而非今年首度，哈佛就已有過半數的錄取新生（約51.4%）為少數族裔。

順帶瞅一眼CNN是否會盲從。結果還是CNN在新聞報道查實（ fact checking）上，要來得嚴謹。

And again, for the second year in a row, the majority of students invited to attend the prestigious college this year identify as ethnic minorities.

說得明明白白，哈佛錄取新生中的少數族裔過半，去年為首度，今年是二度。

這裡面有兩個趣點。一是“假新聞”的傳播，更可能通過的是川普所讚賞依賴的FOX NEWS。

二是哈佛今年的錄取數據發布在3月31日，這少數族裔過半消息，未見當時引起多家媒體注意，卻在這兩日成了大新聞。

原因對大家來說，並不奇怪。不就是因那被某公眾號當作“重大喜訊！”來報的，川普政府周二發令調查大學錄取中的“逆向歧視”問題麼？緊接着，紐約時報發文《哈佛被訴招生歧視亞裔，偏袒其他少數族裔》（https://cn.nytstyle.com/education-career/20170804/affirmative-action-battle-has-a-new-focus-asian-americans/），將哈佛和亞裔學生的名校錄取問題推上了風口浪尖。

一好友曾評論過：亞裔在名校over represent是一個太醒目的靶子，除了印裔華裔之外，沒有別人會覺得是正常現象。

一微信群友近日指出：現在川普調查用亞裔名義調查AA，就是想把亞裔拿出來打非裔，西裔。到時候，非裔西裔恨的不是白人，而是亞裔，甚至是華人。把亞裔/華人推向其它族裔的對立面，最後落得孤家寡人。有些亞裔被利用了還不知道。

哈佛錄取新生中的族裔組成數據通過各媒體傳播，應算是哈佛大學針對其歧視亞裔的指責和訴訟，向全美各族裔作一交代和公告。其錄取新生中少數族裔已過半、亞裔最多的實情，讓更多人了解得更清楚後，對亞裔學生的名校錄取，是福還是可能會有不利？
