            For the kick-off, Gym, the music teacher, made us sing Thoroughly Modern Millie. I didn't do anything much other than half of the song. That's 'cause the youngest group in Junior Theater Camp didn't memorize the lyrics. Half of an hour later, we were assigned to memorize The Speed Test, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Sweet Mystery of Life. Gym must've been exhausted since he was leaving before the camp was over.

            Next, we had Eric, the dance teacher, to teach us the Opening Number up until the Charleston. There was a lot of moving around and my neighbor was an unlucky one. She must run all the way across the stage. And she had to do it Twice!

            Just before dismissal, the junior campers came back again and they watched us doing the dancing. Man! We looked so embarrassing because they couldn't stop whispering and giggling about our mess. This wasn't too bad to start off the weeks though.

      今早，音乐老师吉姆先要我们练唱《仙乐美人》主题歌，我投入不多，只唱了半首，因为戏剧营小班营员忘了歌词，他要求我们用半个小时记熟《速度测试》、《仙乐美人》以及《甜蜜生活的奥秘》。吉姆一定累得不行，提早离开了这里。

      接下来，舞蹈老师埃里克从开场舞起按顺序教我们跳舞，直到查尔斯顿摇摆舞为止，我们学了不少舞姿。我身边的女生实在不走运，因为跳得急，差点摔到台下，不得不再来一次。

      结束前，小班营员重新返回剧院观摩我们跳舞。天哪﹗真叫人挂不住脸，小不点们见我们舞步不整，频频交头接耳笑个不停。不过，本周第一天能有这番表现，还算说得过去。

 Tues. July 2, 2013

            The day started off very quickly, literally quickly. Gym said to warm up with the part we learned The Speed Test yesterday. By the time I was finished, my mouth, lungs, and throat were 100% ready. I thought I did well. But Gym started to accuse us for insulting the world of music.

            Next, we cleared Thoroughly Modern Millie again because the young girls couldn't sing low enough in the harmony.

            When we had a break, Nicoleta passed out the cookies because of her birthday. I watched Jason surfing he app store. Suddenly, he switched to Instagram and I got bored.

            I hoped that we could do more singing but other things had to be practiced like dancing Thoroughly Modern Millie. That was a bad choice 'cause our dance teacher Eric was absent. Unfortunately, the counselor didn't even know the song! So they probably didn't know the dance either. The temporary teacher had to hold the book and danced at the same time. I was sure Eric would give the counselor a huge beating.

            今天一开始，我们节奏神速，准确地说应该叫雷厉风行。音乐老师吉姆要我们把昨天学的《速度测试》拿来热身，刚吊完嗓子，我自认为已进入状态。可吉姆却斥责我们亵渎音乐。

            由於戏剧营小班女生低声部压不下来，我们重新试唱《仙乐美人》。

            休息时，尼科莱塔带来点心供大家享用，今天是她的生日。与此同时，我观看杰森网游实用商店，可他突然转去图片网站，撇下我无所事事。

            但愿我们能多练些歌曲，而非兼顾其它，比如《仙乐美人》舞蹈。尤其今天在埃里克舞蹈老师缺席的情况下，我们独自排练舞蹈，岂不枉费功夫。最寸的还有，辅导员们对《仙乐美人》主题歌全然不知，恐怕他们根本无从把握该怎样跳这个舞。替补老师一边照着剧本，一边摆弄舞步。如果埃里克知道这个样子，肯定要揍他一顿。

 Wed. July 3, 2013

             This morning was probably the best ever at the theater camp. It was a teacher's birthday that we had some amazing cake. The cake was bigger than big and tasted certainly better than mediocre or the best.

            After the cake, our spirits were completely fired up. Eric, who came here today, corrected a top of mistakes because of the counselor teaching us so poorly and of our stuffed stomach.

            Next, we were burning calories as fast as we ate the cake. Eric was firing dance moves to the Speed Test like a frog's tongue zapping bugs. At one point, Haley, another camper, tripped over a desk prop and almost fell off the stage. Soon, the counselors were shooting their hands up to take him to the nurse. It was a terrible sight because the junior campers even saw it happen.

            That officially ended our happy time. At that moment, the desk prop broke, too. Today we had a very bad ending.

            今早大概是戏剧营开营以来最叫好的一个上午，因为其中一位老师过生日，所以我们大块朵颐，蛋糕比普通的大，味道比一般的香，称它为点心极品，并非言过其实。

            吃完蛋糕，我们情绪高涨。舞蹈老师埃里克今天到场，给我们纠正好些错误。昨天辅导员真够损的，给我们灌输了一肚子草货。

            接下来，我们要玩命消耗掉蛋糕转化而成的热卡，埃里克教《速度测试》舞步，好像青蛙用舌捕食一样神速。营员海利一度踢翻桌腿，险些掉下台来。辅导员赶紧搀扶着他去见护士。戏剧营小班成员静观眼前发生一切，触目惊心。

            好戏就这么草草收场，桌子也破了。良好的开端并不一定带来圆满的结束。

Fri. July 5, 2013

            Yesterday, July 4th, was the best Independence Day ever. That's what I said when the counselors asked how my holiday was.

            Gym, the music teacher, said to have a long warm-up with The Speed Test. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before Gym claimed that we were out of shape. I had to admit that he was correct.

            After a quick break, I was called to the music room. Jason was there and so were a few others. Jason, who was playing Jimmy, needed an ensemble and I became a part of it. I didn't do much because I already knew it. But the girls just couldn't sing low enough for the song What Do I Need with Love. Gym must've noticed us bored and so he told us to go back the theater.

            Just before dismissal, Amad passed out treats for a snack because of her birthday. It was cupcakes. There were a lot of leftovers. So we had a raffle basket, but I didn't win a single one. For some reason, Jess got 3 extras. I guessed that she found a four-leaf-clover yesterday at the fireworks.

            昨天“七‧四”是我过的最好的一次独立节，我如实回答辅导员常规询问。

            音乐老师吉姆要我们花些时间练习《速度测试》，可他很快就发现我们乱了套，我不得不承认他说得没错。

            短暂休息后，我被叫到乐房听候待命，杰森和其他几位也在里面。扮演主角吉米的杰森需要更多合唱演员，我就是其中新的一位，可我并不需多练什么，因为那部分我早已掌握。问题出在女生无法降低音调唱《我需要什么的爱》。吉姆意识到我们呆在那里无聊，叫我们先回到剧场。

            收场前，阿曼得带来生日点心与我们分享，是杯状小蛋糕，每人一个，还有不少剩余。于是，我们开始抓阄，看谁的手气好，能再多吃一个。我徒劳无获。不知为什么，杰西竟多得了3份，我猜昨天国庆节放花时她一定看到了“四”叶草而非三叶草。
