The children in our community need your help! Jacob¹s Heart is a grassroots organization working to improve the quality of life for children with cancer, and decrease the burdens faced by their families in OUR communities of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. As the Board president, I feel I have been given the chance to make a difference in the life of a child.

On September 29, 2002 we are holding our largest fundraiser, the Kidrageous Carnival event, in San Lorenzo Park in Santa Cruz. Kidrageous is dedicated to the celebration of life for children battling cancer and in remembrance of those, so dear to us, who have lost the fight. Each booth at the event is dedicated to the honor or memory of what each of our children loves most.

This event was created as a venue to gain signatures in order to lobby the state to proclaim September as Childhood Cancer Awareness month. We did it! In 1999, Governor Gray Davis issued the proclamation with special recognition of the efforts of Jacob¹s Heart. With more than 3,500 people in attendance last year, Kidrageous has now grown to be our biggest community awareness event.

Kidrageous is not only a fun day for our kids, but is also a major fundraiser for our ongoing programs. With many thanks to our generous supporters, we have brought our kids smiles through three previous Kidrageous events and have been able to provide valuable to support for children with cancer and their families throughout the year.
