"Back to a Farming Life"

Sowing bean seeds at the foot of South Mountain,
yet rampant weeds dominated the bean seedling.
Started early morning to clear weeds off wildland,
carried hoes to head home under the moonlight.
Road was narrow yet the side bushes sticking out,
my clothes were soaked from dewdrops of dusk.
I didn't mind seeing clothes so wet like from rain,
just wishing my effort wouldn't go down the drain.

Planted peas in the field by the southern-mountain
Weeds taking the ground made the pea shoots thin
I have been weeding and harrowing
From the early morning to the moon rising
Walking through the narrow space with grass not low
My clothes are wet by the heavy night dew
It doesn't matter that my clothes are not clean
Just wish all I have done won’t go in vain！

Growing beans at the foot of the southern mountain,
Yet weeds have taken over the sprouts.
Tidying up the land at dawn,
Heading home with a hoe over my shoulder in the moonlight.
Grass looks long as the road stretches narrowly,
Evening dew has dampened my cloth.
But that's nothing to worry about,
As long as my wishes are satisfied.
