Renowned Poetry of Adversity by Tang River-East Poet Liu Zongyuan
"Five Worded Supreme: Snow River"

Birds have flown extinct from thousands of hills,
no trace of human life is discernible on any trails.
On the sole boat in straw-laced hat and clothing,
a lone old man on a snow-laden icy river is fishing.

《Snowy Valley》柳宗元《江雪》配圖試譯。

《Snowy Valley》
None of birds was tracked in mountains,
No footprints of anyone were seen on paths.
Only an old man with straw hat and coat,
On a chilly lake, does ice fishing on a boat.

試譯柳宗元《江雪》

The birds in the mountains have flown away.
No sign of humanity on the trails today.
Only a fisherman in a straw cloth and bamboo hat forever
Angling in a boat on this cold snow-covered river.

In no mountains one could see any birds,
And nowhere one could meet a guy with words.
An old man was still fishing on a snowy day there
So cold on  a  boat with only some straw wear.

Over Mountains there is no birds flying
On roads there is no people passing
Wearing the hat and coat made of straw an old man is boating
On the snowy river all alone and fishing

送交者: 曹雪葵 2016年03月02日

On all hills not a single bird could be heard,
No human tracks over any road have been spurred.
Under a snowy bamboo hat and in straw raincoat,
Alone is an old man angling in his boat.

No bird flies over all the mountains,
No one in sight on all the paths,
Sitting on a boat with the raincoat made of straw,
An old man is fishing alone in the cold snow-covered river.

《River Snow》
Mountains over mountains without a chirp
Tracks through tracks not one foot-print
艾瑪，that old man with rain gear in a boat,
Fishing snow without a drink?!
