《 声声慢 》

　寻寻觅觅，冷冷清清，凄凄惨惨戚戚。乍暖还寒时候，最难将息。三杯两盏淡酒，怎敌他、晚来风急？雁过也，正伤心，却是旧时相识。

　　满地黄花堆积，憔悴损，如今有谁堪摘？守著窗儿，独自怎生得黑？梧桐更兼细雨，到黄昏、点点滴滴。这次第，怎一个愁字了得？

^{Quiet and empty,} 

^{My heart feels so  melancholy and lonely.}

^{Comes the season}

^{That alternates  warmth  with coldness,}     

^{I’m not yet wont to fit it.}

^{Could  cups of thin wine}

^{Truly make me warmer,}

^{In an evening  too cold and windy?}

^{Across the sky  the wild geese flapping away,} 

^{How wistful I am to watch them go,} 

^{Alas! They might be the old ones I knew of before.}

^{On the ground the yellow flowers piling up,}

^{How wistful  I am to see them wither and decay,}

^{Yet is there even one left fresh for picking?}

^{Sitting alone by the window}

^{I yearn for the darkness falling,} 

^{But the eventide gathers up  inch by inch.}

^{The drizzle, the phoenix tree,}

^{Vague and rhythmical,}

^{I hear the drips on the leaves.}

^{This moment, this  dusk,} 

^{My feeling grows far beyond the word ‘sad’.}
