The Yellow River projects upward and afar in the midst of white clouds,
a lone fortress lies in a mountain range of ten thousand feet in elevations.
Don't blame the local Qiang flute is singing the aspen and willow blues,
as no spring wind blows pass the Jade-Entry Gate onto northern frontiers.
--- 大赞豌兄力作!信达雅三者皆看出构思的苦心。这首诗不好译主要在其格调之雄浑,那种令人一诵,心胸顿阔,有思马寻刀的冲动。豌兄译作全篇流畅无滞,E文笔力俺不能及也。最喜这句
cuz spring winds never blow across Yumen Pass to the distal frontiers.
说不出的荒远感慨意味。再赞佳译!
译作二(职老)
the yellow river upto the-gaps-among white clouds
where dwell between mountains an isolated city
don't sad cowboy, nowhere of spring willow
the Jade Gate stops southern breezes
--- 小牧陋作,指点几句:
黄河之上白云间
the yellow river upto the-gaps-among white clouds
译文虽允许贴切合理的再创作,可这句里的gaps是否多余?是根据“白云间”得来的,对不对?原诗中这三个字就是虚写,那个“间”是不用翻译出来的。另外“黄河”不会自己专找白云的缝隙才“远上”,要是没缝隙涅?黄河就打住了是吗?译得太谬!
一片孤城万仞山
where dwell between mountains an isolated city
dwell 是居住的意思,是有生命的才能做出来的行为:只能人居住在城里,不是城居住在山里。
羌笛何须怨杨柳
don't sad cowboy, nowhere of spring willow
羌笛译作cowboy虽令人捧腹,但可接受。因为也许那笛子正是cowboy吹的,虽多少有抄袭“牧童横坐黄牛背,短笛无腔信口吹”的嫌疑,却别有诗意。
春风不度玉门关
the Jade Gate stops southern breezes
这句么,不失大格,但 southern breeze 似不如 spring breeze 亮眼。为啥涅?原文中“春风”是对“杨柳”的呼应,是刻意强调出来以渲染此地的偏远荒凉,所谓的“诗眼”是也。你却非说 southern breeze 就是春风,那“东风”不是春风?
应该说全篇译得不成功,唯有第三句cowboy意境颇具特点。

《The Lyrics of Liangzhou》
The Huanghe River originates itself through the white clouds,
From where the sky and the earth meet.
A lonely fortress that the sorrow fog shrouds,

lingers a tone,longing to see the willows.
They never know the desert is so wide,
That the Yumen Pass beyond no spring wind blows.
