本來KJV版本是有一句的，但是由於天主教發現了所謂更古老的聖經版本，於是刪除了這句。其實KJV所本的版本是集合了多個（幾百個-幾千）版本的本子。我更相信KJV的版本對這句的翻譯。

現存的和合本是

約翰一書 - 第 5 章
6這借着水和血而來的就是耶穌基督。不是單用水，乃是用水又用血。NIV:
This is the one who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
7並且有聖靈作見證，因為聖靈就是真理。
For there are three that testify:
8作見證的原來有三，就是聖靈，水，與血。這三樣也都歸於一。
the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

實際的希臘和KJV都有“三位一體”。

7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
作見證的原來有三，就是聖靈，水，與血。這三樣也都歸於一。And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
