14 πολλοὶ γάρ εἰσιν κλητοί, ὀλίγοι δὲ ἐκλεκτοί. [1]
马太22:14,因为被召的人多,选上的人少。
KJV: For many are called, but few are chosen.
ESV: For many are called, but few are chosen.
NIV: For many are invited, but few are chosen.
BARBY: For many are called ones, but few chosen ones. [2]
彼前1:9:惟有你们是被拣选的族类,
9 Ὑμεῖς δὲ γένος ἐκλεκτόν, · [3]
KJV: But ye are a chosen generation,
ESV: But you are a chosen race,
NIV: But you are a chosen people,
彼前1:9中的ἐκλεκτόν作为adjective 修饰γένος,中文译作“被拣选的族类”,无论是中文翻译,还是英文翻译都很难讲ἐκλεκτόν拣选这个字误认为是动词。
但是马太22:14这节经文的英文译本,诸如KJV、ESV、NIV则容易将“拣选”这个字误认为是动词,尤其是不少华人信徒看英文版是比中文版更可靠的版本,就说那里是“拣选”的作为,但和合本本身翻译得非常好“被召的人”和“选上的人”,这个紫色部分的“人”非常重要,跟英文版BARBY后面所加的ones 是高度一致的。因为这里的kλητοί and ἐκλεκτοί are predicate adjective.[4]而不是动词的被动式。
