　我剛信主的時候聖經不熟，又不知該如何禱告。神很恩待我，每天早上醒來的時候，聖靈都會在我裡面唱一首詩歌，然後我就去詩歌本的旋律索引里把它找出來唱。常常是邊唱着歌詞邊流淚，心裡不能不低頭敬拜這位全能的真神：哇！怎麼我想說又說不清楚的都寫在這詞裡呢？！原來神真是活的呀！他真是名為奇妙！居然知道我所有的心思。。。就這樣，我開始了每天的晨更。。。雖然我那時身體很不好，有時連睜開眼睛的力量都好像沒有，可是只要一開始唱詩，禱告和讀經，就會越唱越喜樂，越讀越有力，神的話和這些詩歌成了我每天新鮮的嗎哪。

　“當轉眼仰望耶穌”就是這樣一首對我生命成長幫助很大的詩歌。疲乏的時候唱它，體力得到更新；憂愁，委屈或是靈里低沉的時候唱它，心裡陰霾散盡；纏綿病榻的時候唱它，耶穌基督成了我裡面有榮耀的盼望；環境不順的時候唱它，神的應許, 不論有多少, 在基督都是是的；貪戀世界的時候聽到它，心裡的一角好像被聖靈溫柔地輕輕一扯。。。後來發現，不只我愛唱它，我們教會的弟兄姊妹也愛唱它，我去的那個Bible Study Fellowship的講員更是常常選它來作我們一天的開始。前年我們的夏令會，講員之一是我很敬重的Devern Fromky弟兄。他說起年輕時去傳道的路上遭遇嚴重的車禍，幾乎殘廢。當他躺在重診室的病床上的時候，歌曲的作者蓮美爾專門托人給他送去她唱的“當轉眼仰望耶穌”，使他深得安慰和激勵。。。

　剛才上網古狗一下，發現它的詞曲作者Helen Howarth Lemmel恰好生於一百四十一年前的今天。（１１／１４／１８６４－１１／１／１９６１）特此向大家介紹這首好歌，紀念這位與我們同奔天路的前面的姊妹。

　The author and composer of this hymn is Helen Howarth Lemmel, she was born on November 14, 1864, in Wardle, England, and she died November 1 1961. She was the daughter of a Wesleyan Methodist pastor; she came to America from England with her family when she was 12. She lived in Mississippi for a short time and then settled in Wisconsin. She got a reputation of being a good singer; she also had taken private voice lessons in Germany for 4 years.

In 1918, a missionary friend gave Helen a tract. As she read it, Helen’s attention was focused on this line: “So then, turn your eyes upon Him, look full into His face, and you will find that the things of earth will acquire a strange new dimness.” She said that:

“Suddenly, as if commanded to stop and listen, I stood still, and singing in my soul and spirit was the chorus of the hymn with not one conscious moment of putting word to word to make rhyme, or note to note to make melody. The verses were written the same week, after the usual manner of composition, but none the less dictated by the Holy Spirit.”

Since then Helen’s hymn has been translated into many different languages and used to challenge Christians to stay devoted to God.

我想每個基督徒都一定有一些特別喜愛的詩歌。有的詩歌你第一次聽就覺得它觸動你的心，有的詩歌剛開始聽的時候沒有什麽特別的感動，但是某一天突然歌詞震撼了你的心。還有一些詩歌可能唱了千百遍，可是對你來說它就只是一首詩歌而已。

有一首古老的詩歌叫做「當轉眼仰望耶穌」。相信大部分的基督徒都會唱這首歌，因為幾乎所有的教會詩歌本裡面都有這首歌。這首歌我很早以前就會唱了，其實應該說很早以前就會背了。可是這首詩歌對我來說一直就只是詩歌本裡面的另外一首詩歌而已，我對這首歌從來也沒有特別的感動。

一直到幾年前我在德州的時候，有一次我參加我們教會一個家庭的家庭聚會。在聚會中分享的時候不知道為什麽大家突然談起了每個人在自己的追思禮拜的時候希望別人唱的歌。這時有一位媽媽級的姊妹分享說她希望在她的追思禮拜上能夠唱這首「當轉眼仰望耶穌」。詳細的分享內容我已經不記得了，我只記得她的分享讓我好感動。於是回家後我便到網路上去找這首詩歌，結果竟然被我找到一個美國人叫做John Starnes唱的這首「Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus」。我一面聽這首英文詩歌，一面我的淚水就不停的流。這首歌的副歌是這樣說的：

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

你們知道有一種燈的開關是可以調亮度的。這種燈可以從很亮調到很暗。這首歌的歌詞裡面說：當你定睛看着主耶穌的面容的時候，這個世界上的事情突然之間就好像被那個調光器調暗了。於是乎，一些我們平常以為很重要的事情，突然之間都從我們眼前消失了。而我們看到的，就只剩下主耶穌無限豐盛的榮耀與恩典 - And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

突然之間，我發現我的人生計畫、對成績、學位、愛情、人際關的追求都莫名其妙的從我眼前消失了，唯一剩下的就是主耶穌充滿慈愛的面容與的榮耀。
