Dear Father in Heaven,
We pray for this particular mother who lost her husband two years ago and is acutely suffering from lymphoma. We grieve with her and her loved ones as she sits on this side of the shore, pondering on the settling sun of her own life. Since we know you are a God of mercy and grace, we bring our plea to you for your intervention in her life. Just as you were able to stop the sunset during the battle days of Joshua, so we ask for your mercy in postponing her life's sunset. We pray that she will have the same chance to live in more borrowed time as Judah's King Hezekiah.
We pray that, in this holy week of remembering the death and resurrection of your son our savior and brother Jesus Christ, she will be assured of the blessed hope that is found in the risen Lord. She will joyfully engage herself in living and also dying in Christ throughout the waning hours of her life.
We also pray for her young son who now must grapple with the gravity of her sickness. May you help him to find solace, comfort and hope in you. May his faith be purified after this ordeal. May he grow up knowing the enduring fatherly love from you despite the brevity of his parent's loving care.
Last night you heard the testimony by a sister whose life was in crisis while a prideful student at Harvard School of Business. But you dispatched a christian sister who was orphaned at a young age and raised by her granny to send the timely comfort when the spirit swept across the grassy lawn as well as her heartland. She was convicted at that very moment. Likewise, we pray that your abiding love never departs from this young man and his elder sister.
Father, we are more than humbled to know that, with every second ticking away, a pair of souls have to dismantle their earthly tents and abandon their dwelling on this lowly planet. Your recall of life can be intimidating to many. While your will is sovereign and resolute, we prostrate ourselves before your feet and want to shake your hands like a child to a father on behalf of this cancer-stricken sister in the Lord.
How we wish your mighty deeds of supernatural healing visit upon us frequently.
In Jesus Christ' name, we pray, Amen.
