[kjv] And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
[bbe] And the Lord said, Am I to keep back from Abraham the knowledge of what I do;
18:18 [hgb] 亞伯拉罕必要成為強大的國、地上的萬國都必因他得福。
[lzz] 亞伯拉罕一定成為又大又強盛之國；地上萬國都必用他的名而給自己祝福。
[kjv] Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
[bbe] Seeing that Abraham will certainly become a great and strong nation, and his name will be used by all the nations of the earth as a blessing?
18:19 [hgb] 我眷顧他、為要叫他吩咐他的眾子、和他的眷屬、遵守我的道、秉公行義、使我所應許亞伯拉罕的話都成就了。
[lzz] 我和他知交，是要叫他吩咐他的子孫、和他以後的家屬一直走我永恆主的道路，秉公行義，為要使永恆主指着亞伯拉罕所應許的話都歸給他。」
[kjv] For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
[bbe] For I have made him mine so that he may give orders to his children and those of his line after him, to keep the ways of the Lord, to do what is good and right: so that the Lord may do to Abraham as he has said.
18:20 [hgb] 耶和華說、所多瑪和蛾摩拉的罪惡甚重、聲聞於我。
[lzz] 永恆主說∶「那攻擊所多瑪和蛾摩拉的嚷叫聲很大，他們的罪惡極重；
[kjv] And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
[bbe] And the Lord said, Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is very great, and their sin is very evil,
18:21 [hgb] 我現在要下去、察看他們所行的、果然盡像那達到我耳中的聲音一樣麼．若是不然、我也必知道。
[lzz] 我現在要下去，看看他們所行的是不是全像那喧嚷攻擊聲達到了我耳中的那麼樣。既或不然，我也會知道的。」
[kjv] I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
[bbe] I will go down now, and see if their acts are as bad as they seem from the outcry which has come to me; and if they are not, I will see.

神仍耐心地、公平地等待著，等待往昔的人，也等待著你我……
18:21　神給予所多瑪城的人一個公平的測試。他並非漠視他們的惡行，只是耐心地、公平地給他們悔改的最後機會。現在，神仍在等候，賜人迴轉歸向他的機會（參彼後3:9）。聰明的人會在神懲罰罪惡以前，就歸向他。

壞消息（18：16－21）所多瑪和蛾摩拉的毀滅
5. 訪客起身前往所多瑪，亞伯拉罕送了他們一程（18：16）。
耶和華因對亞伯拉罕的呼召（眷顧），就向他顯明所要做的。
“我眷顧他，為要叫他吩咐他的眾子和他的眷屬，
遵守我的道，秉工行義，使我所應許亞伯拉罕的話
都成就了。”（18：19）

6. 而後神向亞伯拉罕宣告所多瑪和蛾摩拉罪惡深重，上達天
庭。神自然知道二城的情形，卻仍然以恩賜的態度派兩名天
使去那裡，為了向人證明那裡人心的邪惡（18：20－21）。
神允許人犯罪是為了證明他的公義。然而亞伯拉罕一再質問
的正是神的公義（正義/信實），因為神已說過他不再會因人
的罪而施行象在洪水中所做的那樣整體滅絕了（創8：21；9：
11，15）。
