Orthodoxy AND orthopraxy: Five Options
送交者: xinmin 2007年05月25日23:23:16 于 [彩虹之约] 发送悄悄话

There are five options, by analogy of bones and meat:

(1) Skeleton: Only bones without meat is called skeleton. Christianity cannot afford to have a skeleton of liturgical rites without the daily living in faith and hope and love.

(2) Bony or Skinny: Many bones with little meat is called bony or skinny. Christianity cannot afford to have a community who recite creeds weekly with little or no daily pratice of faith.

(3) Obesity: bones with much meat (especially the fat) attached is called obesity. Christianity cannot afford to have an excess of social and communal do-gooders without the principled guidance set on solid biblical foundation.

(4) Meatball: No bones with only meat is called meat ball. Christianity cannot afford to have unprincipled love (inclusivism and universalism). Principled love is love in biblical truth and justice.

(5) Healthy person: right amount of bones with the right amount of meat is called healthy. Christianity needs a balanced emphasis of orthodoxy and orthopraxy. Strike the right balance between orthodoxy and orthopraxy and stay healthy!
