Our almighty Father,

On this historic occasion of the election of Pope Benedict XVI, we pray for your blessing to him and the catholic church.

May you grant this "simple and humble" worker of yours much wisdom. Help him to lead the 1.1 billions flocks to be a mighty force for your kingdom. May the evil power continue to shiver to the frontal assault of your indomitable kingdom.

May this world be covered with peace and justice. Help the new Pope champion a culture of life with truth and grace. May your will be done from Vatican to the four winds of the earth.

In the name of your one and only son, our savior and elder brother, Jesus Christ, Amen!
