Lydia, here is a brief account of my experience with my daughter’s illness and God’s sovereign mercy in our lives. If there is something more you need, please, let me know. . . I will be praying for the family. . .
When our 11 year old daughter, Kelly, was
diagnosed with malignant brain and spinal tumors in March, 1991,
my husband and I were brokenhearted; even more so as we came to
understand the suffering she endured during more than 3 years of
various treatments, including brain surgery, chemotherapy, and
radiation. As He promises, the Lord was close to all of us.
It was during that time that Kelly came to know Jesus Christ as
her Lord and Savior. His love radiated through our child, and
there was joy in our lives, even in the presence of that terrible disease.
When she died in June of 1994, we were crushed, groaning under the sad weight of our terrible loss. Yet even as Jesus welcomed our daughter into his arms, he dried our tears and saved us from the awful blackness that threatened to engulf us. Our son Adam (then 19 years old) was profoundly affected by his sister’s victorious life and death, and professes faith in Christ as a result. My husband and I have experienced a
deepening in our relationship with the Lord and with each other,
for which we are eternally thankful. I know God keeps his
promises. May this encourage you to face each day
with confidence, knowing we serve a promise-keeping God.
Your friend in Christ, Amy
