　我刚信主的时候圣经不熟，又不知该如何祷告。神很恩待我，每天早上醒来的时候，圣灵都会在我里面唱一首诗歌，然后我就去诗歌本的旋律索引里把它找出来唱。常常是边唱着歌词边流泪，心里不能不低头敬拜这位全能的真神：哇！怎么我想说又说不清楚的都写在这词里呢？！原来神真是活的呀！他真是名为奇妙！居然知道我所有的心思。。。就这样，我开始了每天的晨更。。。虽然我那时身体很不好，有时连睁开眼睛的力量都好像没有，可是只要一开始唱诗，祷告和读经，就会越唱越喜乐，越读越有力，神的话和这些诗歌成了我每天新鲜的吗哪。

　“当转眼仰望耶稣”就是这样一首对我生命成长帮助很大的诗歌。疲乏的时候唱它，体力得到更新；忧愁，委屈或是灵里低沉的时候唱它，心里阴霾散尽；缠绵病榻的时候唱它，耶稣基督成了我里面有荣耀的盼望；环境不顺的时候唱它，神的应许, 不论有多少, 在基督都是是的；贪恋世界的时候听到它，心里的一角好像被圣灵温柔地轻轻一扯。。。后来发现，不只我爱唱它，我们教会的弟兄姊妹也爱唱它，我去的那个Bible Study Fellowship的讲员更是常常选它来作我们一天的开始。前年我们的夏令会，讲员之一是我很敬重的Devern Fromky弟兄。他说起年轻时去传道的路上遭遇严重的车祸，几乎残废。当他躺在重诊室的病床上的时候，歌曲的作者莲美尔专门托人给他送去她唱的“当转眼仰望耶稣”，使他深得安慰和激励。。。

　刚才上网古狗一下，发现它的词曲作者Helen Howarth Lemmel恰好生于一百四十一年前的今天。（１１／１４／１８６４－１１／１／１９６１）特此向大家介绍这首好歌，纪念这位与我们同奔天路的前面的姊妹。

　The author and composer of this hymn is Helen Howarth Lemmel, she was born on November 14, 1864, in Wardle, England, and she died November 1 1961. She was the daughter of a Wesleyan Methodist pastor; she came to America from England with her family when she was 12. She lived in Mississippi for a short time and then settled in Wisconsin. She got a reputation of being a good singer; she also had taken private voice lessons in Germany for 4 years.

In 1918, a missionary friend gave Helen a tract. As she read it, Helen’s attention was focused on this line: “So then, turn your eyes upon Him, look full into His face, and you will find that the things of earth will acquire a strange new dimness.” She said that:

“Suddenly, as if commanded to stop and listen, I stood still, and singing in my soul and spirit was the chorus of the hymn with not one conscious moment of putting word to word to make rhyme, or note to note to make melody. The verses were written the same week, after the usual manner of composition, but none the less dictated by the Holy Spirit.”

Since then Helen’s hymn has been translated into many different languages and used to challenge Christians to stay devoted to God.

我想每个基督徒都一定有一些特别喜爱的诗歌。有的诗歌你第一次听就觉得它触动你的心，有的诗歌刚开始听的时候没有什麽特别的感动，但是某一天突然歌词震撼了你的心。还有一些诗歌可能唱了千百遍，可是对你来说它就只是一首诗歌而已。

有一首古老的诗歌叫做「当转眼仰望耶稣」。相信大部分的基督徒都会唱这首歌，因为几乎所有的教会诗歌本里面都有这首歌。这首歌我很早以前就会唱了，其实应该说很早以前就会背了。可是这首诗歌对我来说一直就只是诗歌本里面的另外一首诗歌而已，我对这首歌从来也没有特别的感动。

一直到几年前我在德州的时候，有一次我参加我们教会一个家庭的家庭聚会。在聚会中分享的时候不知道为什麽大家突然谈起了每个人在自己的追思礼拜的时候希望别人唱的歌。这时有一位妈妈级的姊妹分享说她希望在她的追思礼拜上能够唱这首「当转眼仰望耶稣」。详细的分享内容我已经不记得了，我只记得她的分享让我好感动。於是回家後我便到网路上去找这首诗歌，结果竟然被我找到一个美国人叫做John Starnes唱的这首「Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus」。我一面听这首英文诗歌，一面我的泪水就不停的流。这首歌的副歌是这样说的：

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

你们知道有一种灯的开关是可以调亮度的。这种灯可以从很亮调到很暗。这首歌的歌词里面说：当你定睛看着主耶稣的面容的时候，这个世界上的事情突然之间就好像被那个调光器调暗了。於是乎，一些我们平常以为很重要的事情，突然之间都从我们眼前消失了。而我们看到的，就只剩下主耶稣无限丰盛的荣耀与恩典 - And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

突然之间，我发现我的人生计画、对成绩、学位、爱情、人际关的追求都莫名其妙的从我眼前消失了，唯一剩下的就是主耶稣充满慈爱的面容与的荣耀。
