去年，教会的几个弟兄姊妹开始帮助社会上一些有需要的人。我忽然想到查查看圣经上关于帮助穷人是怎么讲的。我很快发现不少英文网站列出了相应的经文。中文网站关于这方面的资料少的可怜。只找到三四个网站，每个只列出三四句经文。所以我就决定要弥补这不足。

以下只是收录了圣经中关于帮助有需要的人的经文的一部分，有兴趣者可继续查考。

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.     (Matthew 5: 42)

There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.  (Deuteronomy 15: 11 NIV)

 

原来那地上的穷人永不断绝。所以我吩咐你说，总要向你地上困苦穷乏的弟兄松开手。(申命记 15:11)

 

“What should we do then?” the crowd asked. (John the Baptist) John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”    (Luke 3: 10-11)

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence. (1 John 3: 18-19)

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.  If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?    (James 2:14-20 NIV)

 

我的弟兄们，若有人说，自己有信心，却没有行为，有什么益处呢？这信心能救他吗？ 若是弟兄，或是姐妹，赤身露体，又缺了日用的饮食， 你们中间有人对他们说，平平安安地去吧，愿你们穿得暖吃得饱。却不给他们身体所需用的，这有什么益处呢？ 这样信心若没有行为就是死的。 必有人说，你有信心，我有行为。你将你没有行为的信心指给我看，我便借着我的行为，将我的信心指给你看。 你信神只有一位，你信的不错。鬼魔也信，却是战惊。 虚浮的人哪，你愿意知道没有行为的信心是死的吗？  (雅各书 2:14-20)

 

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,”you are doing right.  (James 2:8 NIV)

 

经上记着说，要爱人如己。你们若全守这至尊的律法才是好的。(雅各书 2:8)

 

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from JerusalemtoJericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

不是要把你的饼，分给饥饿的人。将飘流的穷人，接到你家中。见赤身的，给他衣服遮体。顾恤自己的骨肉而不掩藏吗？  这样你的光就必发现如早晨的光。你所得的医治，要速速发明。你的公义，必在你前面行。耶和华的荣光，必作你的后盾。 那时你求告，耶和华必应允。你呼求，他必说，我在这里。  (以赛亚书 58:7-9)

 

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.    (Luke 12: 33-34)

 

你们要变卖所有的，周济人。为自己预备永不坏的钱囊，用不尽的财宝在天上，就是贼不能近，虫不能蛀的地方。 因为你们的财宝在哪里，你们的心也在哪里。  (路加福音 12: 33-34)

 

Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”     (Mark 10: 21 NIV)

你施舍的时候，不要叫左手知道右手所作的。要叫你施舍的事行在暗中，你父在暗中察看，必然报答你。    (马太福音 6:3)

 

When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. ²⁰ When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. ²¹ When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again. 你在田间收割庄稼，若忘下一捆，不可回去再取，要留给寄居的与孤儿寡妇。这样，耶和华你神必在你手里所办的一切事上赐福与你。 你打橄榄树，枝上剩下的，不可再打。要留给寄居的与孤儿寡妇。 你摘葡萄园的葡萄，所剩下的，不可再摘。要留给寄居的与孤儿寡妇。 (申命记 24:19-21)

 

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (Act 20:35 NIV)

 

我凡事给你们作榜样，叫你们知道，应当这样劳苦，扶助软弱的人，又当记念主耶稣的话，说，施比受更为有福。  (使徒行传 20:35)
