A Moment at Dusk At dusk, the breeze blew through the leaves of the spring trees, through the falling petals of withering flowers, and through the air that was filled with an uncertainty as it breathed the first breath of summer. It just rained a little. The roads were wet and smooth, like someone’s lips. The wheels of my car ran on them, giving off a feeling of an eternal kiss, saturated with a longing but quiet passion. The soft melodies from my car radio flew out of the window, through my open fingers in the breeze, and dispersed in the spring air like little shining round marbles running down their happy journey. I tried to catch them but to no avail. The breeze ran through the tangled threads of my thoughts, picked out one or two ends, played with them, and then ran away again carelessly. The countless threads danced purposelessly in the passing wind with a strange and unexpected grace. I was awash in the sea of my thoughts, not aware my hair flowing in the water softly like seaweeds succumbed to the invisible torrents in the deep ocean. Moments and thoughts are born fleeting. They are there this minute and gone the next. In the vain effort of trying to get a hold of my own thoughts, I found myself elusive, like something comes and goes out of its own will, and there is no telling where it will be in any given moment. When the clouds move in the sky above, their shadows move across the land to follow, changing the landscape a thousand times a day. I can see the shadow of your thoughts moving across your forehead, like the shadow of the clouds moving across the sky, yet I can’t see mine. In this vain attempt to capture myself, I found myself lost in the universe, drifting on the threads of my thoughts to everywhere I don’t know. |
