Olympic medalist figure skater Michelle Kwan and Rhode Island attorney and political activist Clay Pell are getting divorced.
Pell, 35, said in a statement Wednesday that it's with 'deep regret' that the couple's 4-year marriage is coming to an end.
According to TMZ, Pell cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the breakdown of the marriage and is requesting that Kwan, who has a reported $16million net worth, to pay his attorney fees.
It's unclear if he has requested spousal support from Kwan, 36. The couple does not have any children.

"It is with deep regret that I share that Michelle and my marriage is coming to an end. This is a sad and difficult turn of events for our family," Pell said in a statement.
"I love Michelle, and wish her the very best as her life takes her in a new direction.
'I want to thank friends and family who have given wisdom and support, and I ask for privacy during this challenging time."
Kwan has not commented about the divorce. She shared a photo on Wednesday to her Twitter account during a speaking engagement for Women's History Month.

Kwan married Pell on January 19, 2013, in a Providence, Rhode Island, ceremony that was attended by fellow Olympians Brian Boitano, Dick Button and Dorothy Hamill.
Pell is the grandson of Rhode Island's late Democratic U.S. Sen. Claiborne Pell.
He ran unsuccessfully for Rhode Island governor in 2014.
Both were active supporters of Democrat Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign last year, and Pell was a member of the Electoral College.
Kwan is the most decorated figure skater in American history.
She won 43 championships, including five World titles, nine national crowns, as well as the silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and bronze at the 2002 Games.
